Six pals from the Toronto-based Wilderness Canoe Association did a 21 day trip down the Horton River to the Arctic Ocean (Franklin Gulf) in July 06. They told us in Inuvik that is was one of the finest Julys in memory.
We were mostly self-provisioned, but Canoe North provided vital gear including one expedition canoe, bear protection supplies etc. Doug cheerfully barged his equipment down to Norman Wells and let me return it by truck from Inuvik. Some other outfitters in NWT will no longer do that. He even gave us a credit on unused bearspray. I recommend his services to anyone contemplating a wilderness canoe/kayak trip in the beautiful Mackenzie River area.
