Sheila’s Chewy Granola Bars

These delicious and nutritious bars are special because they are always different.  The options will satisfy anyone’s preference for favorite combinations.
Preparation
In a large bowl combine brown sugar, peanut butter, corn syrup, butter and vanilla, blend well.

Fold in the rest of ingredients and options. Press mixture evenly into greased 9x13” pan and bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until light brown. (Watch closely as you don’t want to burn the mixture.  Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Makes about 2 dozen.  Enjoy
Ingredients
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup corn syrup (light or dark)
½ cup butter melted
2 tsp  vanilla
3 cups oats (rolled or quick cooking)
1/3 cup wheat germ (regular or honey crunch)
2 tbsp sesame seeds
Options
all, some or none:
1 cup of chips (chocolate, carob, peanut butter or vanilla, or any combination).
½ cups of raisons or dates
½ cup coconut
½ cup chopped nuts or sunflower seeds.

Canoe North Bannock Mix

Bannock can be baked, fried, or cooked over an open fire, making it perfect for outdoor adventures like camping or paddling trips. It’s known for its golden crust and soft, dense interior and can be enjoyed plain, with jam, or alongside savory dishes. Bannock holds cultural significance in many Indigenous communities and remains a beloved comfort food.
Preparation
In a large mixing bowl, mix the above ingredients until well mixed.
Store in a 4 liter ice cream container or in zip loc bags
When you want to use it use 2 cups of mixture with 3/4cups of water.
If you want to make pancakes add more water.

If you store portions in plastic bags you can add the water and mix right in the bag and then squeeze out into the frying pan. Cook on low heat and flip often to avoid burning. Add berries if available

8 tsp sugar
8 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
15 tbsp powdered milk
10 tbsp lard
