Sheila’s Chewy Granola Bars

 Sheila’s Chewy Granola Bars

These delicious and nutritious bars are special because they are always different.  The options will satisfy anyone’s preference for favorite combinations.


1 cup      packed brown sugar

2/3 cup    peanut butter (creamy or chunky)

½ cup     corn syrup (light or dark)

½           cup butter melted

2 tsp.      vanilla

3 cups     oats (rolled or quick cooking)

1/3 cup   wheat germ (regular or honey crunch)

2 tbsp.      sesame seeds



all, some or none

1 cup of chips (chocolate, carob, peanut butter or vanilla, or any combination).

½ cups of raisons or dates

½ cup coconut

½ cup chopped nuts or sunflower seeds.


In a large bowl combine brown sugar, peanut butter, corn syrup, butter and vanilla, blend well.

Fold in the rest of ingredients and options. Press mixture evenly into greased 9x13” pan and bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until light brown. (Watch closely as you don’t want to burn the mixture.  Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Makes about 2 dozen.  Enjoy
